Maybe Just A Little

thumbcramps:

hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.

also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.

anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!

This comic touched me very deeply. Im a fan of many things, and I would love to cos-play them, but Im a curvy girl who isnʻt comfortable enough to dress the way my heroins dress the way that male comic book artist dress them.

So when I once tried to do it, I also didnt feel respected either.

Anne Hathaway’s reponse to Matt Lauer’s gross comment about the paparazzi taking a picture up her dress.

I just canʻt believe that Matt Lauer refers to the paparazzi taking a picture up Anne Hathawayʻs dress as her wardrobe accident, and what she should learn from it. She shouldnʻt have to learn from it, paparazzi should learn not to take pictures up womens skirts. Isnʻt that illegal?

Never Been Done Before of the Day: Even if the words “Broadway Musical” make you shiver uncontrollably, a new technique for the upcoming film version of Les Miserables is a cinematic milestone, even though it’s a bit of a no-brainer.

Movie and TV musicals all the way up to today (Glee included) suffer from the use of pre-recorded tracks and lip-synching, preventing actors from well, acting. Les Mis is hoping to change that with completely live vocals and hidden earpieces — check it out.

so excited for this!!!!

Text

So Im the kind of person who paints her nails outside the line, and for a long time Ive never done anything else but paint one color. Not even paint my every other nail a different color, or paint a plain coat then paint glitter over that. I dont know why Ive always just liked plain nails.

But Im starting to change that and so begins my at home pedicure curious adventure:

I really like how its coming out, Im not trying to do anything professional, so its not perfect, but I love it, and its just in time for summer and the beach.
